It was a single toilet paper roll sitting on the edge of the tub. At first I had that really annoyed, eye rolling moment, when I thought "Seriously? Is it that far of a reach to the garbage can that we have to stack the empty toilet paper rolls on the edge of the tub?" But instead of throwing it away or getting mad at whomever the culprit was, I decided to leave it there and see what happened. Every once in awhile I like to NOT be the maid and leave things to see how long it takes before someone, ANYONE, takes the initiative to pick something up, clean something up, or throw things away. (And for the record, I still have no answer to how long it takes because invariably I always get annoyed enough that I will just do it myself...I guess they've trained me well *sigh*)
Soon enough, that single toilet paper roll turned into this...
And low and behold...today I noticed a similar edifice being erected in the other bathroom...only this one is on the counter...
Now...I could look at this in several ways... If I choose to be annoyed (which is my usual course of action) I could wonder how in the world I raised such lazy children that they can't manage to drop the empty roll in the garbage can that happens to be RIGHT THERE. If I want to be an optimist, I can consider that AT LEAST this culprit is bothering to put the new roll on the toilet paper holder instead of leaving it for me to do later (so maybe we have made progress?). Or I could choose to be curious, and consider that someone is having a streak of creativity, and maybe this is someone's personal work of art?
I haven't said a word to anyone, and I didn't throw them away. I am choosing to think it's funny...because let's face it, if you can't laugh at it you'll end up crying. EVERYTHING is funny...if not today, then someday. I am going to leave them there and see how this plays out. Who knows...maybe someday an archeologist will be digging in ruins that contain my house and they will unearth this mystery and spend eons speculating at it's origin and meaning.
I love this! I often wonder how high people will stack garbage if I don't replace it with a new bag? I don't know if I want to do that particular experiment :) I found your blog a couple of weeks ago and I love how honest about life you are. BTW, your basement pictures looked great!
ReplyDeleteOh how I relate. My husband left his suit from church out last week. I decided to let him hang it up. Guess where it still is? AND tomorrow is Sunday. Wonder how long it will sit on my bed. LOL
