It's Time to Be Prepared

A Warning to All

I am a self proclaimed political junkie.  I love talk radio, I watch informative news programs all the time and consider myself to be pretty well informed on most issues.  I think debate is a good thing, as long as it is done in a civil manner, and I respect the opinions of those around me as long as they are not demeaning or rude in their delivery.  But aside from just "knowing" stuff, I haven't really gotten involved.  Yes, I always vote, which is more than some can say...but I am beginning to think it's time for me to step out and do more. Because we live in a state that is mostly conservative, I think many people are complacent about politics.  Either you agree with what is going on, so you do nothing, or you think you're so outnumbered it doesn't matter what you do, so you do nothing.
For the first time ever, I actually find myself being afraid of what is happening in this country.  We have always been told to stay out of debt, yet our country is swimming in it.  Politicians, on both sides, have become corrupt and power hungry and seem to want to strip away our freedom in the name of "charity", even though what they do isn't really "charity" at all, at least not the way I define it.  When all is said and done, I am afraid of what will be left for my children, and their children, in the future.  People are worshiping at the feet of politicians that can "give" them things and bowing down to the "earth"...meanwhile, God is not allowed anywhere and we are putting up "holiday trees" and not allowed to say Merry Christmas in public for fear of offending someone (thankfully it hasn't gotten so bad here yet but it's only a matter of time...)  What has happened?
I have really enjoyed the recent talks I've heard, telling us that if we are living right and preparing, there is no reason to be afraid. I think it has inspired me to do better in many areas.  I also think it's important to play an active role in the political process...I need to not just be informed but step out of my comfort zone and actively participate.  Now...that said...am I running for office?  You couldn't pay me enough to EVER do that...but I need to make sure that the only voices being heard are NOT the voices of the people that started this insanity in the first place.
