Book of Mormon Challenge

Recently, the Relief Society decided to present us with a challenge to read the Book of Mormon in 100 days.  The lesson they taught the day they presented this challenge was fabulous, and the spirit was definitely present in that meeting.  I left that day feeling very excited and eager to get going and keep up.  The best news of all is that I had just barely started reading it about a week prior...so I even had a leg up!
Now, an important thing to know about me is that I get very enthusiastic about things like this.  Whatever the challenge, I jump in with both feet, bound and determined that THIS will be the time I cross the finish line.  Unfortunately, my enthusiasm tends to wane and I find myself distracted and pretty soon I have forgotten all about it.  Sad, isn't it?
So THIS TIME I am going to do it.  And isn't it funny how every time you say something like this it's almost like you can hear Satan laughing somewhere off in the distance as he mumbles "sure, ya are..." under his breath?  I know now why I never finish...and it's all his fault.
Since I started reading, I have seen a steady climb in the number of mini crises in my life...just little annoyances that drive me nuts and eat up my precious minutes every day.  Luckily, so far, I haven't had any major event take place, but sometimes these little annoyances seem like they're worse.  It's like being pecked to death by a canary...one little sharp poke at a time.  Just a few of these little annoyances include:

  • Just as I sit down and pick up my book, the cat throws up in the hall....while running, of course.  It just wouldn't be the same if she sat in one place and made a neat pile.
  • Dylan breaks out in hives...forcing me to examine under a microscope every possible item in the house that might be causing it.  I finally caved and washed all his clothes, bedding, towels, etc in an effort to make it stop.
  • My driver's license has vanished into thin air.  It was going to expire this summer anyway, so I will just get a new one...but that is harder than it used to be since now I need to find my Birth Certificate, which is also  MIA.
I could go on and on... *sigh*...
Now here's the good news...Not only have I been keeping up, but I am actually zooming right along!  And I'm really enjoying it, too.  It's amazing how every time you read the Book of Mormon, you get something different out of it.  As pressed for time as I have been with all these little problems that keep cropping up, when I pick up my book and read, it's almost as if time stops for a bit...allowing me the time to read and still be able to deal with everything else I have to do.  It's truly amazing.
Now if I could just find my stinking driver's license...

  2. Keep going, Keep going!!I loved reading it this year as I taught early morning seminary. I didn't always like teaching, but I loved the spirit that filled me as I read the book of Mormon. It is amazing and my life was richly blessed. I am reading it again too. Not everyday, like I should. Maybe I should add that to my exercise routine? Physical exercise then Spiritual exercise. Sounds like a plan! Keep going
