Colby won! He was awarded the Diamondback of the Month award for 9th grade for the month of November. This award is given to students who stand out both academically and in overall character. Each month, the teachers all nominate one boy and one girl, then out of the nominees, the faculty votes to decide who will receive the award. I am so proud of him! I received the letter a week ago saying that he had won, and I had to write a short biography for them to read at the assembly (unfortunately, I am a woman of many words, so the biography wasn't all that short...too bad! There is lots to say about Colby...) Then today they had the assembly where he received a plaque and certificate. They didn't want him to know about it beforehand, and it was kind of a hard secret to keep...plus we were worried he would see us at the assembly and the secret would be blown, but we managed to sneak in.
I am so proud of Colby. He is such a wonderful person. He is one of those kids that sits quietly in the background, so not a lot of people get to find out how smart and funny he is....and many times he gets overshadowed by the loud, in-your-face kids that have to be the center of attention. This is really too bad, too, because everyone that gets to know Colby loves him....so I figure there are a lot of people that are missing out. Not only is he super smart and VERY funny, but he is also very compassionate, loving, and a very loyal friend. He never has a bad word to say about anybody, (and when I DO have bad words to say about people he is the one that says "You're so NICE, mom" reminding me what a mean person I can be...) I'm very happy that others see these great qualities in him like I do...

Yay for Colby! That is so awesome Wendy! Don't you love it when other people think your kids are as great as you think they are! :)
